In Amy Shermon’s book Kingdom Calling it reads “By this we must realize that the righteous, in their prospering, must be making a remarkably positive difference in their city. They must be stewarding their power wealth skills and influence for the common good to bring about noticeable, significant transformation in the city.” It has never been our mission as a church to come to Alhambra Village and preach the gospel inside the church on Sunday morning and then leave until next Sunday. Instead it is our mission to not only preach but live that gospel in the city. To see Gods creative goodness in the city. To grieve over and minister to the brokenness of the fall in the City. To proclaim the redemptive work of Christ to the city. A redemption that’s powerful enough to redeem the city and they that dwell within. To this end we seek to be a foretaste of the kingdom of God to come that is currently present in those that are residents of his kingdom now. A foretaste of the kingdom of God in to and through Alhambra Village.
One of the practical ways we seek to live intentionally as a faithful presence and foretaste in Alhambra is by starting the storyboard learning center. The storyboard Learning Center is a place that helps people to learn how to play their part of the story as a part of the big story. There is all types of learning and training for all ages and all areas of life. To learn more or support please click this link : https://www.facebook.com/storyboardLC/?hc_ref=SEARCH&fref=nf
As a means to learn more of the deeper history, beauty, strengths and weaknesses of Alhambra as to be more intentional with what we offer at storyboard and as a family of missionary servants called to Alhambra Village, we will be going on a 6 month study of the city by interacting and engaging the residents, small business owners, employees schools, Churches… in a 1-2 mile radius to Redemption Alhambra. The Process is called Asset Mapping. A.B.C.D. Asset-based community-driven development (ABCD) Asset mapping helps to identify the beautiful God given assets of the community and empower the community to join God in his process of restoration. As we plan on being here for a while we see this as a family affair. I would like to invite you to learn more about this process and how to get involved at our information session on Sunday April 30th in the Storyboard learning center from 1:30 – 3:30 pm. Child care is provided.
