This Sunday we launch our new series “We Want A King”

This series centers on the rise & fall of Israel’s first three kings—Saul, David, and Solomon—exploring themes of power & brokenness, national division & personal failure, and cultivating a heart after God. Ultimately, all three kings reveal our desperate need for Jesus as King. We will start with 1 Samuel 8, where the people cry “We want a king!”   in that we may be like the nations. Yet when we reject God as king, it leads to disaster.

Here are some good ways to prepare:

1. On Sunday, July 3rd, we’ll begin our series in 1st Samuel Chapter 8 and continue preaching through select chapters in 1st and 2nd Samuel plus 1st Kings for 21 weeks. The following videos from the BibleProject give a good overview of each book and can help connect the dots between the passages being covered to the overarching narrative. Take some time over the coming days and weeks to watch these videos and prepare your hearts not just for Sunday sermons but the series-at-large.

2. Another great way to prep for each sermon is to read ahead! Read and meditate on the chapters we’re teaching in, and try to include the chapters in between. Here is a list of each passage we’ll be preaching on.
